Jo Coldwell-Neilson, Emeritus Professor, Deakin University

An Emeritus Professor, Jo maintains active engagement with both the education and IT sector. Throughout her career, Jo has built a strong research and teaching profile engaging students in and with technology. She has been involved in a variety of projects, particularly while at Deakin University, that are involved with implementing educational technologies in her teaching and more widely in the teaching and learning activities at Faculty and University levels. Jo’s current research reflects her teaching and learning interests and include investigations into gender issues in IT, digital technology uptake in schools and higher education, digital literacy preparedness for the digital future, and preparing students for careers in a digital environment.

Hero has had a diverse career in academic libraries, having held senior roles at three major universities - University of Melbourne, UNSW and Deakin. Hero is passionate about strategic and inclusive leadership and, as Deakin’s University Librarian, is leading the Library on a large-scale transformation project to reposition it for the future. Hero is an ALIA Board Director, member of the CAUL Content Procurement Committee and the Trove Strategic Advisory Committee.

Jennifer is the Educational Services Librarian at Victoria University, Melbourne, where she provides leadership, innovation and expertise in the development of library and information services to support the University’s learning and teaching activities. She is interested in the connections between teaching and research, and how collaborations within institutions lead to a positive environment for students.

Cheryl Claridge, Team Leader, Library Research Services, Federation University Australia

Cheryl is the Team Leader, Library Research Services at Federation University Australia, leading the Research and Learning services team in developing and implementing a targeted and sustainable range of library services specifically for researchers. Cheryl’s focus is on developing collaborations to generate programs and services to support researchers and increase research capacity.

For a decade, Emeka has been working in academic libraries across Melbourne. Emeka now works at Deakin University Library as a Learning Designer. He has a strong passion in how diversity can be used to re-shape libraries, and how technology can aid in library services.

Lizzy has been working at Deakin University Library for the past 12 years. Her work as a Learning Designer focuses on creating engaging, online content that enhance student and staff digital literacy skills. Lizzy has a passion for exploring digital tools for learning and improving accessibility in education.

Wendy has been working in academic libraries for 14 years and is currently an Information Literacy Librarian. She is passionate about information literacy and teaching and the impact this has on student success. She tries to stay across trends and issues within the profession and is always looking for new methods of engagement. Wendy is a team leader who is committed to uplifting her team.

Mare has a background in education, arts, and libraries. She has worked in school and public libraries and is currently a Learning Librarian at RMIT. She is motivated by social justice and the transformative power of education. As a founding member of the new ALIA Multicultural group, she continues to advocate for diversity improved practice across the information sector.

Erin Roga, Liaison Librarian, Federation University Australia

Erin began her career as a primary school teacher and pivoted to librarianship. She has worked in public, TAFE, and now a university library. Her interests are information literacy, equity in academic libraries, and growing as many plants as possible in her garden and house.

Heather Tera, Senior Learning Librarian, La Trobe University

Heather is a Senior Learning Librarian at La Trobe University, supporting learning and teaching for various disciplines across Business and Community Planning. She is interested in academic engagement and curriculum-based information literacy. Heather holds a Diploma of Library and Information Services (Swinburne), BA Arts - Librarianship and Corporate Information Management (Curtin) and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (La Trobe).

Manuel Jantos, Academic Skills and Language Advisor, La Trobe University

Manuel is an Academic Skills and Language Advisor at La Trobe University, supporting learning and teaching for students across academic and language literacy with a focus on Business, Psychology, and Public Health. Manuel is interested in developing inclusive and accessible academic literacy environments. He holds a Master of Education and International Relations with a background in teaching across the language, secondary and tertiary education sectors (Bond).

Hannah Simpson, Educational Developer, Australian National University

Hannah is an Educational Developer at the ANU School of Cybernetics. As part of the Educational Experiences team, she helps take cybernetics to the world through innovative research-informed microlearning experiences for tertiary students, industry, government, and communities. With responsibility to future generations in mind, the Experiences Team’s interactive educational programs lean into complexity and have an emphasis on creating relevant and meaningful experiences.

Ingrid Mason, Change Manager

Ingrid is a technology translator who shapes and influences strategic agendas, who drives ethical workplace, policy and practice transformation with data and ICT. She describes herself as "a self-professed metadata nerd and digital curator who has found a work space that satisfies her interests in people, culture and society, humanities research, informatics, software and the web." Inspired by the work of the leaders behind the AI4LAM (Artificial Intelligence for Libraries, Archives and Museums) initiative she called out in 2020 for collaborators (aka as a bunch of go-getters/volunteers) to set up the first regional chapter of AI4LAM for Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand. The regional chapter runs a speaker series to showcase project work being undertaken in the region and leading thinkers and experts that are enabling new practices and AI technologies to be explored.       
      
Vikas Sharma, Educational Developer, Australian National University

Vikas is an Educational Developer at the School of Cybernetics at ANU. He is well-versed in understanding business objectives and managing high-stake relationships with ease. In the past many years, Vikas has worked with international marketing and corporate communications teams to design and deliver many integrated marketing campaigns.

Vikas loves storytelling and produces and hosts a community radio show in Canberra that seamlessly blends Indian music, information, and current and relevant issues.

Alex Zafiroglu, Professor, Deputy Director, School of Cybernetics, Australian National University

Alex is a Professor and Deputy Director at the Australian National University’s School of Cybernetics and a Fellow of the ANU Futures scheme. Prof Zafiroglu, a cultural anthropologist by training, joined the ANU in 2019, after a 15-year career in the technology industry at Intel Corporation in the United States.
